Today is the day; The Top 100 Sex Blogs 2020 list is here.

If you have not read the housekeeping post from yesterday please do so, New Voices and other bits, as it contains important information and thoughts about the list as well as the New Voices Awards. And now for something slightly different

For the last 10 days or so I have been deliberating over who should be the get the number one spot this year. Flipping back and forth between two blogs that had ended up at the top of the list with essentially the same scores. In the past there has always been a clear winner but this year picking between two blogs that both felt like they smashing it but where also very different has been a struggle. Until about 3 nights ago when I woke up in the middle of the night and realised I don’t have to pick. This is my list and if I want to have two blogs sharing the number one slot, then I can… And so that dear reader is what I have done.

1. Little Switch Bitch

In a year where so many of us have struggled for various reasons when it has come to sex blogging LSB seems to have bloomed. She has always been a great blogger but this year she seems to have taken what she was already doing and built on it. I feel like she has truly come into her own this year. Yes there are still amazing images and fabulous reviews but she has added in an increasing amount of thoughtful and hot first person narratives and also launched a very popular meme: Quote Quest. She absolutely 100% deserves her place at the top of this list.

1. Super Smash Cache

And so to my other winner for 2020. Like LSB she too has been an excellent blogger for a good many years now but this year she seems to have taken everything she always did well and just done it even better and even more. I have no idea how many toys she has reviewed this year but I can tell you it is an impressive amount and each and every single one of those reviews is both amazingly comprehensive and accessible but also peppered with imaginative and beautiful shot images. There has never been a sex toy review blog at the number one spot. I think Cy definitely deserves to be that first though.

2. Sex, Love and Videotape

Livvy was nominated for her main blog and this project this year and so I asked her which one she would like to be consider for the list. To my delighted she picked this. If there has been one blog I have read obsessively throughout this year, eagerly anticipating each post, it has been this one. In Livvy’s own words this is a “sex positive movie review blog” but those reviews are intelligent, thoughtful, analytical and thought-provoking. Movies, sex, brilliant writing. What’s not to love here.

3. Love, Violet

I am almost at a loss for words when it comes to Violet’s blog. It is beautifully put together. She has such a great eye when it comes to design but also it doesn’t just look good but it also is easy to navigate. It one of those blogs that you go there to read one thing and end up 20 minutes later realising you have fallen down a rabbit hole of sexy writing. Fiction, non-fiction, reviews, images. It is all here and it is all excellent.

4. On Queer Street

Quinn’s blog is another one that is a joy to look at and navigate around but hir’s content continues to be of the highest standard. Hir’s filth is, well utterly delightful filth that often has me discovering new thoughts and ideas that I didn’t know were hot to me until ze wrote about them. Ze is a truly talented writer in my opinion who has an amazing skill when it comes to taking those little subtle things, thoughts and ideas and turning them into something throbbing with desire and heat.

5. Mx Nillin

Nillin’s blog is bold, powerful, at time challenging and direct and always unashamedly filthy. I have learned so much from them over the years and this year in particular. They make me think, they make me challenge ideas and thoughts around a variety of different subject but they also take me on a journey with them where I find myself sharing in both their joys and their hardships/sadness. Oh and did I mention, fabulous filth? Both words and images, that just seem to hit the (wet) spot.

6. Girly Juice

Pretty sure no one will be surprised to find Kate in the top 10 again this year. Her blog is just so readable. A bit like Violet I often head there because something has caught my eye and then discover that time has passed and I have slipped into a Girly Juice reading marathon.

7. Coffee and Kink

I have always been a big fan of Amy’s blog but this year I have found myself there time and again reading her excellent content. She is an accomplished writer and I have particularly enjoyed reading her pieces inspired Quote Quest and also some of the filth she wrote for Smutathon 2020, well if you have not read it then you have been missing out.

8 Focused and Filthy

It will come as no surprise to anyone when I say I love photography and I have a particular passion for self portrait photography all of which I suspect explains my love of this blog. It is an feast for the eyes. A growing collection of beautifully and skillfully crafted, sensual, sexy, imagery.

9. Poly. Land

This blog continues to be a favourite read of mine and I continue to be hugely impressed at not only the amount of content they produce but at the quality and diversity of that content. Despite the title of this blog implying it is all about poly that is far from the truth. It is a rich offering of advice and thoughts about relationships of all styles.

10. Cara Sutra

I find this a slightly tricky one to write because I feel like Cara really needs no introduction. She is quite frankly damn good at what she does and what she does is consistently create quality, engaging, informative content. There are guides, reviews, images, fiction, just so much good stuff to enjoy from one of the best sex bloggers around.

100. YOU! The last spot on the top 100 sex blogs 2020 is for the all the other awesome sex bloggers out there. It is just not possible to include everyone, I relied on the nominations to gather the list and I am sure there are people missing, but this place is for you because every single one of you counts and contributes towards this community.
