I don’t tend to turn many of my outdoor images to black and white, well certainly not the first go round. They just tend to lose the richness and depth that colour gives them but as you can see from a few of my Throwback Thursday images this month it is something I will do on a re-edit. Mostly I discard them because the colour version just always works better but sometimes the black and white has a merit of it’s own.
The original of this image was posted here during last years February Photofest for the Sinful Sunday prompt which was white. You don’t get much whiter than snowdrops and I really liked the title that I gave it at the time; Dirty White.
To be honest I really didn’t expect this image to make a good black and white but turns out I was wrong about that because I actually really like the result. Yes it has lost some of the depth and the vibrancy of those pure white flowers in the foreground but it has bought the focus of the image more onto me and my dirty bum!

I love black and white so much. The flowers look like they are glowing. Beautiful.

I want this picture on my wall. It’s gorgeous – you look as though you’re made of silver. Utterly beautiful.
