So I come all this way to the great city of Philadelphia, to see America, to feel and experience this country for myself and oh boy do I love it here. Philadelphia is a cool city. You can pretty much walk anywhere in the city centre, and it’s not like walking in London, there are none of those arsy pedestrians just launching themselves out into the traffic willy nilly (apart from me on occasion, I guess you take the girl out of London but not London out of the girl) here, they all stand and wait calmly for the little white flashing man (And I don’t mean a man flashing either!). It’s got a great pace of life too, an interesting feeling of hustle bustle combined with an air of being laid backed, all of which makes for a great atmosphere. Of course it’s also packed full of history. It is the home of the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence was thrashed out by the great American men of the times (more on this subject later I hope) Then there is eating and wow, have I done some eating (more stories on that soon also) but this little post today is about shopping.
Now I am not a great shopper. I like a bit of retail therapy, but I get bored easily, especially if I can’t find what I want and I tend to just give up. I’d much rather be out and about seeing things than buying stuff but here in Philly I have enjoyed myself. South Street is one cool trendy road and I bought myself a very naughty black dress, well it’s kind of a dress, although some of the material does seem to be missing……LOL……(maybe a picture of that one later for you all) and I discovered to my joy that in many shops I was a size zero?! Zero, for fuck sake, I am sure it can’t be right! Well I was a zero when I arrived but if I keep eating like this I will soon be into the plus size stores!
So I have wandered the street here (no, not like that silly….) and seen pretty much every type of shop there is, hats, clothes, tattoos, art, household items, jewellery, books, sex shops, you name it, it’s here in Philly but one shop really caught my eye.
I am wandering along this little side street and I look up and see this slightly familiar flag waving around in the breeze. I peer into the shop window and a broad smile bursts across my face. Well I never, I travel all this way to experience America and I seem to have stumbled across a little corner of England. The shop makes me think of Jules and it makes me happy to see that even here in the USA they know a proper a sport when they see one. I wander inside and marvel at the goodies I find and at the rather alarming prices of them too. I guess someone is prepared to pay this much for a Man U mug although I am not quite sure who? As for the flag flying outside the door…….I was unable to find an explanation for such madness but I guess someone has to fly it somewhere in the world so why not here in Philly?

Was the flag at half mast on the day of the cup semi final?

Saying that , i t has probably been flying from the roof since.
America has taste……………..I take back all that I have said about America having no culture………………Come on you SPURS
Oh Philly is the city of brotherly love and there is so much to see and do there but I still prefer Boston. Now as for the state Philly is nestled on the edge of, it is my all time favorite. Pennsylvania is a great place.
P. S. Molly, They have the Liberty Bell and did lots of talking and writing down there, no denying it. Bust us Bay State rebels did the first shooting to rid ourselves of one, George? sorry.
