Black and White

“Light is meaningful only in relation to darkness, and truth presupposes error. It is these mingled opposites which people our life, which make it pungent, intoxicating. We only exist in terms of this conflict, in the zone where black and white clash.” – Louis Aragon

I really love how the black half of your picture actually looks like it’s kissing the white half. I’m not sure if that’s intentional or not but it’s really clever. Xx

Yay, I am so glad you saw that. I didn’t intent that when I took but during editing it revealed itself so I am so glad you saw that

So much love for tartan print <3 I love how pale your skin is how it contrasts against the black. Really pretty shot edited beautifully x

This is so fascinating, Molly! I adore the contrast and sharp lines, and the little bits of plaid and lace are such wonderful accents! LOVE! ~C

Gorgeous image. When you focus your eyes on the black, it indeed is like a face and lips kissing the white. When you focus on the white, it’s as if the black drops away and the details of the tartan print is highlighted. Fabulous edit!

This is such a wonderful shot. It changes from the first glimpse meaning you see so much more, the appearance of a kiss, the tartan everything, it is such a wonderful contrast.

And the gingham panties! The gingham panties with the lace trim… so beautiful and somehow contradictory to the hard black and whit – I adore this. How did you do it?!
Wonderful x

I shot it in colour but against a black backdrop that I got for Christmas so it was easy in editing to bring up the white and down the black to emphasis the contrasts

Love the epigraph. I really admire Louis Aragon.

And I like the way that the black and the white meet, at those panties, like a kind of kiss.

Brilliant shot again!

Molly, this took my breath away when I first saw it on Sunday and it’s still taking my breath away today. It is so, so, so stunning! The contrast is so sharp and clean and beautiful, I would almost say it is an illustration, yet you still see just a very bare hint of the texture of your skin so it is definitely a photograph. And the kiss of the black is just so clever and sweet and surreal. Really, really lovely. As someone above mentioned, I would so have this framed and on my wall. Just perfect.
