3 Bloggers = 16 Questions

by Molly Moore
Real Neat Blog Awards Badge

I have recently been nominated for the Real Neat Blog award by 3 different bloggers; Cammies on the Floor, Sweet Woman Dirty Mind and Modesty Ablaze. It is always an honour to be recognised for what I do here on my blog and within the sex blogging community, by my peers, so thank you to all 3 of them for picking me.

I have decided not to stick to the ‘rules’ of the award as I am not hugely keen on the ‘chain letter’ feel to these things but I thought it would be nice to answer the questions that the three bloggers above posed. I have combined similar questions to avoid repetition.

  1. Why did you start blogging and how did you choose your focus?

I started my blog as an attempt at self-discipline. I had, since I was a young girl, had dreams of being a writer but that is all it had ever been, dreams. I realised that if I was ever going to possibly be in with a chance of becoming one then I needed to write more. I had a long list of partially written stories on my computer but I was always bad at finishing them. I thought that if maybe I started a blog the OCD part of my personality that likes targets, lists and deadlines would kick in and make me write more. Just for the record, it totally worked out as I planned. 5 and a bit years later I am still going strong and I have quite a bit of my work published elsewhere.

As for the focus, well I never had any real plan, apart from the fact that all the stories I had ever penned before the blog had been sex/erotic based. About a year before I started my blog my 1st marriage had come to an end and so I had also been exploring my sexuality and discovering my submission, so writing about that was an obvious choice as well as the fact that I had just met some American bloke online who I was rather taken with. All these elements of my life were very much the focus of my writing at the beginning.

  1. Has that reason changed throughout time?

Not really, no. It continues to be an act of self-discipline but unlike when I first started and it was a step into the unknown now it is an addiction that I absolutely adore and thrive on. I have learned so much from doing it, about writing, about tech and about myself. I have developed new talents and skills, made friendships that I treasure and managed to turn some of that into a career.

  1. How did you come about your blog name?

Molly Moore is my pen name and it had been my user name online for a good few years prior to starting my blog. The ‘daily’ part of the title was the result of an insane idea that if I called it that then it would make me blog every day…..hahahaha. Clearly life soon made me see the error of my ways with that one but it is a part of the name that still works because no matter what do you come and visit me here there will be something for you to find. And finally Kiss just seemed to be far accurate description of what you might find here than ‘blog’ and I had always signed my name online Mollyxxx.

The odd thing is, the initial of my blog MDK are also Michael’s initials, but just to be clear, the blog came first and it really is a happy coincidence.

  1. Do you share your blog with your partner / special friend before you make each post?

Do I really need to answer this one? He knew about the blog right from the beginning as do virtually all my friends, family and I am pretty sure even my postman has an idea. After all he would only need to search for Molly Moore online to find out.

  1. What do you wish you had known when you started blogging and what’s your biggest piece of advice for new bloggers?

I wish I had known about blogging was something I could have done way earlier. Yes I was a little bit sheltered but apart from that I am glad that I have learned from doing. I think following someone’s ‘guide to blogging’ might have resulted in me trying to recreate someone else’s vision and ideas rather than my own. I learned on the job so to speak and that has worked out very well for me

My biggest piece of advice for new bloggers…. I feel like deserves a whole blog post to itself but for the time being. If you are doing it to make money or get free sex toys then you will probably be very disappointed. It is unlikely to bring you either.

  1. What post, piece or series are you most proud of writing? Please share the link.

This feels a bit like asking me to pick which of my children I love the best. Clearly there are some pieces of writing that I am more proud of than others but with 1000 posts to choose from (yes, this will be No. 1001) picking just one is not possible.

  1. If you did not blog about sex, what else would you most like to blog about?

Photography although as I am particularly interested in photographing people and often with their clothes off I guess the subjects of bodies and nudity would still feature very highly.

  1. Your lifestyle obviously influences your blog, but has your blog, or reading other blogs you have discovered via your own, influenced your lifestyle?

I have written about this on many occasions but, a blog that sadly no longer exists, by the name of Dick Dyke Dick was the inspiration for me to post my first self-portrait image here. Her photography and subsequent friendship is without a doubt one of the biggest early influences on me as a self-portrait photographer.

If you asked this question with sex in mind then it is not so clear-cut. We have certainly got ideas from other kink bloggers and read stories and encounters that have turned me on which I was previously unaware of (needle play is one such example) Also, blogging has really allowed me to see just how amazingly diverse and fascinating human sexuality is.

  1. What is the worst piece of sex advice someone ever gave you?

The worse piece of sex advice someone ever gave me was no advice, or should I say knowledge, at all. I had no idea how to make myself orgasm and had come to the conclusion that the female orgasm was an urban myth. Luckily in my mid twenties a happy series of events resulted in a moment of joyous epiphany on the subject.

  1. Name your favorite sex toy and the worst sex toy you ever tried.

Worst sex toy is by far and away The (not so) Ulimate G from Ann Summers.

Favourite vibrator = The Revel Body Sol.

Favourite Dildo = All my glass dildos.

  1. How on earth do you manage your time so efficiently to blog?

I work damn hard at it. It is not unusual for me to be up late into the evening writing content, editing pictures, curating Sinful Sunday and Elust etc. I think having a supportive partner who believes in what I am doing and loving the work I do are actually the key to managing it successfully.

  1. What is your favorite color and five color associations you have to it? (eg red: love, blood; blue: sad, ocean, etc.)

Rainbow stripes (I know, cheating right?) Playful, fun, diverse, bright, happy

  1. How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?

I have a very complex and at times unhappy relationship with my age and my birthday but if I could pick an age that I would be happy to always be it would be 37. Old enough to know myself but still young enough that when I looked in the mirror I didn’t keep seeing more and more of my Mother in my face. No offense to my Mother mind you, I think she is actually a rather attractive woman but when you look in the mirror and see her neck, her wrinkles etc blooming on your own skin, well, you suddenly realise you are definitely not 37 anymore.

  1. If you had to move to a state or country besides the one you currently live in, where would you move and why?

Philadelphia, because it is Michael’s home and my adopted city which will never hold a place in my heart like London does but it comes very close.

  1. Name five things that you are grateful for.

1 – 5. Every day that I spend with him

  1. At what time in your recent past have you felt most passionate and alive?

I refer you back to the previous question or alternatively about an hour ago in the kitchen when I came home tired and grumpy and he distracted me by turning a hug into a silly wrestling game with tickling and slobbery kisses that made both me and the kids giggle.

Thank you to Cammies on the Floor, Modesty Ablaze and Sweet Woman Dirty Mind for their nominations and questions. I hope I have satisfied your curiosities ladies. Apologies for the length of this post but hopefully you might have learned something new about me that you didn’t already know or maybe you have your own questions you would like to ask me? If you do, you can either use my contact form to get in touch or leave them in the comment below and I will do my best to answer any questions you have.

Thank you for answering all of our questions! Re: Your non-blog writing. My next step is to send writing pitches to other sites, but my new blog is consuming my writing time at the moment. How did you balance the two? And do you ever wait to blog on certain subjects until you discover if you could sell a piece on them?

Oh… DickDykeDick… DDD!

I miss her. I just thought of her the other day when I accidentally clicked on some old log of comments from years ago. I hope with all of my heart she’s happy and healthy.

Thank you for mentioning her — it reminded me to send positive vibes out to her where ever she is. 🙂
