“You see, at the end, I learned the truth about her.
My Fairy Godmother lives in the details.
My Fairy Godmother is my heart sustaining me”
~ Nikkita Gill
The book in the picture is Fierce Fairytales & Other Stories to Stir Your Soul by Nikkita Gill. I don’t own a lot of poetry, something I keep meaning to change but this little book is one of my absolute favourites. I will often reach for it, flip through the pages and where I land is the poem for that moment. It’s title is absolutely accurate, it is a collection of fierce poem that often read like a female battle cry. They are the kind of thing you read that reminds you that you are a warrior, a survivor, a fighter. They are little rousing missif that somehow make you straighten your spine, hold your chin a little higher and smile knowingly to yourself. I am my own Fairy Godmother!
