Secret of the sea

“My soul is full of longing
for the secret of the sea,
and the heart of the great ocean
sends a thrilling pulse through me.”
~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

When I was looking through my images deciding which ones to use for my Throwback Thursday posts during February Photofest I knew I wanted to inject a bit of summer into the February days.

The original image was posted back in 2018 although it was taken in the summer of 2017 while we were on holiday in Greece. It is actually a rare image on my blog that I did not take myself. Michael took it of me while I was enjoying myself in the shallows of the water at this little secluded bay we had found.

This image makes me happy. It reminds me of a happy time and Greece is one of my happy places. I love the sea and the warmth and I think it just captures all that. The original was pretty much posted with no editing but I really love how this new version has turned out. The rocks are still there but they are more a frame now than a distraction and I love the colours in the water and how I look so bronzed. I feel like it has a bit of a 70’s feel to it and kinda reminds me slightly of the beach scene in Dr No although clearly I am not claiming to be Ursula Andress for a start she had a bikini one and I definitely don’t!

Lovely photos. In the book “Dr. No”, the character played by Ursula Andress in the film was naked in the beach scene! You couldn’t get away with that in 1962, so Ms. Andress was dressed in a bikini.
