Coral Beads

Coral beads of hawthorn in front of Molly's breast

“On the motionless branches of some trees, autumn berries hung like clusters of coral beads, as in those fabled orchards where the fruits were jewels . . .”
~ Charles Dickens

So here we are. 2021. 2020 can, for the most part, get in the bin. Although there were some bright spots in that dismal year I am hoping that 2021 might once we get through the winter have a a lot more bright and a lot less dismal. Here’s hoping!

2020 really knocked my blogging schedule. In fact it pretty much ended up in the bin. Apart from sticking to Sinful Sunday every week I really just let things go a bit. At first it upset me but as the year rolled on I realised it was what I needed to do and what I wanted to do. A pause if you will. To think, to regroup, to consider. Did I even want to keep blogging?

As the weeks have rolled by I have discovered that the answer is most definitely yes I do. In fact I have had to actively stop myself from picking up the pace again. I promised myself back in September that I would stick with my scaled down blogging routine until January. To give myself proper time to think about it all. As December rolled on though I found myself wanted to get going again. I have not let myself do that and I hope the result is that it will reinvigorated my blog now. We shall see…

I do know that I am committed to this space. I have more stories to tell, experiences to share and most of all lots of images. Whilst I was not posting as much that didn’t translate into not taking pictures and my pending folder is probably the fullest it has ever been. I definitely have plenty of visual goodies in store for February Photofest.

I also know that I have more paid work now than ever before and juggling those two things is going to require some planning and attention so that I can manage both and still take time off. I want to be able to take time off. It is something I have been terrible at but 2020 has really taught me the value of balancing things. I want to be able to fit in Yoga every day. I want to hit my target of reading at least 24 books in 2021. I want to watch movies with my daughter and I want to take plenty of time away with my partners. If some weeks that means only blogging once then so be it. It is good for me and things that are good for me are ultimately good for my creativity.

With that all in mind I am participating in Violet’s January Jumpstart meme. I am not committing to a post every day this month but I am aiming for 3 – 4 times a week and one of those post will definitely be on a Friday because Boobday is back!

Created by Hyacinth Jones it has been hiatus for a while but the boobday baton has now been handed over to Violet and as of today will be back to it’s usual weekly slot on a Friday. So Friday’s will definitely be featuring boobs which can surely never be a bad thing.

Now one more thing before I go. Is there anything YOU would like to see here on my blog? Do you have a question you would like to ask me or a topic you would like me to write about? Maybe something you would like me to revisit or something I have not touched upon before? Leave a comment below or email me and I might end up writing a post as a result.

I soooooo relate to so much of this post. Balance, in all things – but that is deceptively hard to do! For the first time in what feels like forever, I am optimistic. I hope it lasts, because just like you, I’ve got stuff to do. Thanks so much for the BoobDay and January Jumpstart support, so glad to have you in both projects!
