As has become tradition here during February Photofest I always deem Thursdays to be Throwback Thursday which means takes a previously published image and re-editing it. I love the process of picking the picture and then working on it to see how different edits change and later it. Sometimes I give up, realising the edit I already have done is the best, that nothing I do to it will in any way match or exceed the original but other times that is not the case and the result is something exciting and interesting. Often I still find myself unable to decide if I prefer the original or the re-edited image but that is all part of the process and I have learned so much about how you can change the whole narrative of a shot by editing it in a very different way.
Those two things are definitely the case with this image. The original, I am Wild, is a shot I love. I adjusted the exposure and bought down the highlights in the background a bit on that one but really it is pretty much how I took it. I love the colours of the spring green and my skin. The edit, the one you see above is so radically different but I love it too. Yes you have lost the colours but it is a given it an almost futuristic feel where the stump and me look a bit like poured metal. They are such different images now that it is impossible for me to pick a favourite and that is what I love about Throwback Thursday.

I didn’t see this first time around so I’m glad to see it now. Love how it looks like the tree has bent over you
