The last chance, the last wait, the last pause, the last date
The last look, the last touch, the last kiss, it’s all too much
The last dance, you and me, witness by this very tree
.
The last breath, the last word, the last goodbye, the last thing heard
The last time, the last taste, the last moment, all gone to waste
The last twist, you and me, witnessed by this very tree
.
The wish, the last night, the last detail, the last fight
The last button, the last rip, the last bite upon my lip
The last fuck, you and me, witnessed by this very tree
.
The last slice, the last lick, the last reason, the last trick
The last full stop, the last ending, the last payment and nothing pending
The last tear, you and me, witnessed by this very tree
.
Now I come here, all alone, and gather up those memories sown
Reliving each and every one until by my touch I am undone
And all that’s left of what we were is mourned by me at this the last tree.

I don’t think I’ve read a poem by you before. All I can say is WRITE MORE! This is so well put together and has such a fantastic rhythm to it. The photograph is beautiful, too. Jane xxx
I’ve loved all your tree photos and especially love the sky in this one.
And . . . as always . . . am in awe of how your words flow so effortlessly!!!
