Today (19th October) is the first ever #nationalperiodday.

My period obviously must have known because it started yesterday and today it is most definitely in full flow and so I thought that was a perfect excuse to post some bloody art this week.

I have written quite a bit about my periods and how I feel about them. Summery I used to hate them and think they were yucky and then being with a partner who was completely cool with it resulted in my changing my mind and now I must admit I actually have a bit of thing for period sex. There is something raw and basic about it that just appeals to me and having to shower off afterwards is a nice way to end a good fuck.

Sadly no period sex for me this month but hopefully at some point in the future I will get to do that again but in the meantime you will happily find me masturbating my way through my period.

When I was younger Molly, I'd get more horny during my period, then frustrated that we couldn't "do" anything (neither my b/f or I were very enlightened back then). More recently I have generally preferred not to have full sex at the height of my period but masturbating can helps the cramps. Pleasuring my partner is, of course, not off the table. That's a cool picture.

Thankfully it's not something that I have to worry about any more having had a hysterectomy but prior to that I spent more time bleeding than not. I was not comfortable with the idea of intimacy while bleeding so it had a massive impact on our sex lives.

You’ve joined in finally!! *laughs. I’m one of the odd ones who loses their mojo in the week running up to my period and I hate being touched, even hugging, so sex is out of the question. I have tried but as I near orgasm my cramps become more unbearable so I’m left more frustrated and grumpy! However, a day or two after my period I seem to need to make up for list time, my horn so needy I will hump anything nearby. However, I do have period envy, that red is so vibrant and beautiful!

That is a fantastic picture from a purely artsy perspective. For us period sex isn't really high on the list. Period time is mainly for intimacy and cuddles.

A dramatic and beautiful image. Sadly I haven't had a period since just before I turned 25. It's a good thing in one way, but reading your post and those of others I would've loved to have had the chance to be okay with my period too, and not try to hide it from the world as if it's a huge shame, like I did back then. I tend to get insanely horny just before my period, and once the bleeding starts, BOOM, it's gone. I've been mid-sex with my partner, really into it, then suddenly my orgasm will vanish. Inevitably, it transpires that my period has started earlier than expected. He doesn't mind, but I have usually just wanted to stop immediately. His argument is that he has no problem with getting some "blood on my sword", lol. We have kept going once or twice when my period started mid-sex, but only because we're already going. I'm totally okay with pleasuring him during my period, but I don't really want sex myself. So, needless to say I don't masturbate when I'm bleeding, either.

I’m in the middle of writing a period thing (more about my PMDD and relief to start bleeding) so was excited to see this. I also love the notion of blood as art and don’t mind period sex, once my mood has shifted! Striking shot Molly, it’s really quite beautiful.

This is a very artsy picture. I do have period sex, but not always and not when the flow is at its peak. I have PMDD and PCOS so periods are very much on my meh list and I must admit that I can't want for them to go away with menopause. So period sex isn't a yay, or a nay, it is more like a shrug and sure. let's do it.

I think I am joining with you in the timing for national period day. Unfortunate as I was at a wedding in a light coloured dress so had to take a spare outfit just incase! I think I see less pleasure in period sex now as my periods can be annoying but I do get a craving for sex as a way of working with the pain and the heaviness I feel. A stunning image ?
