As I travel through the air my hair streams out behind me and the cool evening breeze lifts my skirt.
Higher…higher….higher… until there is no more higher and for the briefest of moments I am there hoovering in the dusky sky and then I start to fall and my hair wraps and I bend back my knees and lean forward trying to push myself into the flow of the swing and then there is that moment at the top of arch where I am looking down at the ground and you know if everything stopped you would fall but it doesn’t stop and away we go again my hair flying and my skirt billowing and I am so happy.
I have always loved a swing. When my kids were little I used to take them to the park a lot while they played I would sit on the swings and watch them and when they came running up to me asking me to swing them I would happily swap places and push them whilst they shrieked, “Higher Mummy”, at me.
There is something about a swing, it is one of those simple pleasures in life that makes you feel alive. A bit like a perfect sunset, or swimming naked in a warm sea it is one of those free things, that in the moment, is better than anything money can buy.
When I saw that the Art Twist prompt was this beautiful French oil painting, The Swing, from 1767 by Jean-Honoré Fragonard
It reminded me that I had a series of images that I had taken for the Scavenger Hunt last summer and never posted. On this rare occasion all these shots were taken by @domsigns as we had not ventured out with this plan in mind and so I didn’t have my tripod and camera. Sadly I am not wearing a fabulous peach coloured gown unlike the beauty in Fragonard but I like to think that she was giving the man on the floor a similar view up her skirt to the one I am offering you in this image…
The reason the images are so blurred is because it is late in the evening and just starting to get dark which you can see by looking at the house behind me who have their lights on.
Of course I couldn’t just stop at the swings, even though they are my favourite
Despite not being prepared for this adventure camera wise, I was ready clothes wise, as not only had I left my knickers at home but the dress I was wearing made boob access very easy.
This will be my first time joining in with Art Twist but my 78th Scavenger Hunt and you can find all of the previous ones I have completed on my Scavenger Hunt page.
