Apparently it is very important to use the correct terminology when referring to these little items and calling them ‘clippy things’ is just not acceptable. They are in fact called carabiners. The use of the term ‘clippy things’ should be approached with extreme caution as it can result in them being used in such a manner as to restrain a little subbie so that she can be thoroughly reminded of the correct word. Interestingly saying the word, carabiner, in a mocking or ‘smart arsed manner’ can also have the same result as using the incorrect word, or, upon occasion and even firmer reminder!

However, sometimes use of the term ‘clippy things’ will just result in delivery of ‘the look’ which has a variety of different outcomes but my absolute favourite is, wetness….

Then, there's the other question. Are they "care-uh-BINE-ers" or "care-uh-BEAN-ers?" I've even heard "care-uh-BIN-ers" on the odd occasion. I've only heard "clippy things" from one person, however, and I see that is now being attended to... chuckle... G

I've been using carabiners (karr-uh-BEAN-errs as we pronounce in here in New Zealand) since I was eight - having a dad in Civil Defence taking you on abseiling exercises is a good way to learn things. But they're awesome for adult kink play too! Love the angle of that pic :) xx Dee

NOW, I care what they are called! Although until quite recently I only had use for them on my avalanche gear while snowmobiling. Now that I think about it...I had rope, too... Excellent pic, Molls.

So that is what they are called. I think like you if I got what made me happy by calling them the wrong thing I'd do it on purpose too :) x
