Abandoned

“Art is never finished, only abandoned.” ~ Leonardo da Vinci

This Thursday I woke up to a beautiful sunny autumnal day. Having not been out with my camera for a while I hopped out of bed, flung on some old scruffs and set off to one of the woodlands near my house hoping to find some lovely October colours to compliment my self portraits. Oddly many of the trees are still fairly green, albeit a yellowy orange green but in the end it wasn’t the trees that became my canvas but something else altogether.

The pathway into the wood starts right by the road and for about 50 yards the track is wide enough to drive a truck or small van down. As a result there is often trash dumped along that path. I have seen all sorts there including carpets, bits of furniture and building materials. Now and then someone seems to come along and clear it all up but the nasty fuckers keep coming back and dumping their waste there. It is only a matter of time before someone puts up some concrete barriers to stop them getting in but in the meantime it goes on.

This time however what was left called to me and so I set up my camera, stripped off my clothes and turned someone elses abandoned rubbish into art.

If you are curious about the circle of light of light just above my thigh that is a sun flare that the camera picked up as the sunlight was cutting in through the trees.

Oh, my – In my eyes, this is a truly artistic shot. I love it. From the moment it appears on the screen your eye is taken to your naked form but then scans outward to what you are laying upon and the glorious trees behind you. It’s simply great!

WOW!!!!! You find some of the most stunning places to take pics in. This is fucking glorious, Molly! I mean, it is absolutely stunning. You pose is almost abandoned – just flopped there. Your body looks frigging amazing in this shot, the trees look snow kissed. I just love it all… <3

Thank you. Stumbling across the dumped cable was a stroke of luck and even though I was only 50 yards from the road I couldn’t resist it. I am pleased with the way it turned out.

It staggers me how much fly tipping goes on, and with regular tipping sites, why the authorities don’t just mount cheap hidden wildlife cameras. Or maybe they have, and your photographs aren’t the only ones? (Tee hee …)
I love the sense of discard in your pose – allegorical without being morbid.

This is fucking fantastic. I’m always jealous of your outdoor images. The contrast between the environment and your body is striking.

This image leaves me with so many questions and full of admiration for you taking the risk of solo photography. Great picture,

The image actually reminds me of death. Perhaps because I’ve been reading Baudelaire? It’s very artistic for sure and beautiful – but to me, the imagery speaks as though the body was dumped there as refuse.

Dark and beautiful…

Wow! I love how you could see the potential for such a beautiful image in that. So many people, myself included, would have made the mistake of walking straight past. It’s interesting and captivating and has this abandoned broken doll look that I seriously adore!

Simply wonderful photo . . . just like one of those classical paintings!
And all the more amazing to think it is a self-portrait.

Such a successful shot, Molly. It’s quite stunning and although the illegal dumping is unpleasant you’ve more than made the most of it!

Beautiful, and yes, more than a bit sinister as well.

You, as the model, look so warm and human, and sexy, and yet the setting darkens that.

Great photo!

I’m so glad you found some use for some of that rubbish in the woods – I really think this should inspire a whole series. ^^ I lovelovelove how much your pale body pops among the dark colors of the woods… actually, I’d kind of like to see you tangled up in those hoses!

Glad the cable wasn’t live! 😉 Love the drama here and it’s great how the light is catching and outlining your profile. 🙂 x

the contrasts in this picture are stunning. I especially love the creamy roundness of your limbs against the stripes of the cable are perfection, as is the light.

Molly, this is amazing! I agree with Tabitha, it’s very cinematic, it could be the opening of a movie for sure. I also think there is something about the way the cable is coiled and the way you’re positioned that makes the cable look a little like dark angel wings, Like you are a powerful, avenging, heavenly being, temporarily downed in battle or something like that. As Tabitha said, so very cinematic!
