Essentially what a ring does it trap the blood in the penis. The male body is quite good at pumping blood in, but it doesn’t really actively pump the blood back out again. It just kind of slowly flows back out and so during an erection the flow of blood in is far stronger and greater in volume than the amount of blood leaving the penis, thus causing and maintaining an erection. Placing a ring around the base of the penis reduces that outward flow even further thus making a harder erection more likely.
Michael does not have any problems getting or maintaining an erection, but I still find myself curious as to what the result would be if he tried a cock ring. I just read this piece to Michael and that resulted in us having another conversation about cock rings and it seems we both have the same worries about the fixed metal type rings. As Michael pointed out, if something is not right and it is stretchy, then removal is easy, you get stuck in a metal one and your only option is a hospital visit.
