Head Over Heels

I fucking love high heels

I am not one for the pointed narrow toes though or the peep toe shoe, although I do have a couple of pairs of those, as a general rule I find them way to uncomfortable but the glittery silver ones were just too fabulous to not buy and so I endure that horrible rubbing on my toes that the peep-hole causes and wear them anyway.

I like my heels to be substantial. A block heel and even block toe is totally my thing. I like my heels to demand a bit of attention. Red, Silver, Purple, spring to mind as colours that you may well find me displaying when I have high heels on. Although one of my favourite pairs ever I refer to as The Pinks. They are not only the shapes and style I like, they are bright fuschia pink and they are extremely comfortable

I love the way they make me feel. The moment I put them on I feel sexy, desirable, and confident in those things too. They make me feel like a woman. I love how they make you walk, there is a particular skill to that though. You must walk from the hips and you must to learn stand up straight and lean back into the heel ever so slightly and absolutely set the heel down to the ground first. It takes some practice and some heels, well they are not really made for walking in, but that does mean they don’t still have their place in one’s life. It is just not walking down the street. Heels make your hips sway. I like that line, someone should use that in an advertising campaign. Get in touch if you want to pay me lots of money to use that idea.

I am a rather frugal individual. The most amount of money I have ever spent on a pair of heels was the silver glitter ones that I bought for our wedding. I have to say that I have worn them tons of times and so I think they were worth every penny but as a general rule I am a massive bargain hunter when it comes to shoes. I have discovered that lots of people buy them and then seem to barely wear them before sending them unloved off to the charity shop. I guess they buy them as an impulse purchase or maybe for a specific event and then decide they will never wear them again. Whatever the reason, my bargain hunting heart thanks them for it. However the cheapest pair of heels I have ever bought where from DSW in the USA. They are red velvet wedges that have a ribbon tie over the foot. They were already on the discount shelf but sadly one of the ribbons was missing. So I took them to desk and drove a hard bargain with the manager until he folded and gave them to be $11.00. At the time that was about £6.50 and damn do I love those shoes. Not just because they were are a bargain but because they turned out to be one of the most comfortable pair of heels that I own. A double win in my book

The one sad thing about heels though is that just don’t have cause to wear them enough. They are not really something you can run around the shops in or wear to the gym and working from home means I tend to opt for slippers over heels. Don’t get me wrong I would not swap that for anything. I love working from home and sometimes, mainly in the summer, I will dig out a pair of heels and wear them at my desk anyway. Just because I can and just because heels are fabulous and I love them!

Cool photo, Molly. I don’t know if those wedges count as heels, though, but I think you would probably make any type of footwear look sexy. I am going to go check out those silver glitter ones now.

I am confused by the wedged heel is not a high heel, surely they are just a style of heel, they are still high heels though as they not flat.

I would think to be a high heel the heel is separate from the sole of the shoe. In this case the whole shoe is high. But, I am no expert by any means, and this is an attractive ‘high heel’. I like the use of a shinny ribbon to contrast the velvet.

I was going to say something similar to Elliott – in that I’m not sure if wedges are proper heels. I’ll take them though – they’re what I try to wear. Height, and more support. They were suggested to me by someone who DOES wear heels 24/7, even to shops and the gym!

I am pretty sure wedged heel is a style of high heel. Surely anything that is not flat shoe is a high heel…. and they are definitely the great option when it comes to spending long time in them

You’re probably right. I think I envision heels as being… pointy, I guess. And all out of proportion in height and balance.

And being in those wedges does give me that same feeling over my body and confidence that comes with other heels!

Maybe if I bought block or wedges I’d actually be able to walk in them without falling over…then again, knowing me, probably not!
