I am a Sex Blogging Superhero!

Top 100 Sex Blogging Superheroes of 2013 Badge

The lovely people over at Kinkly have spent the last month or so working on compiling a list of Sex Blogging Superheroes.

Back in August of this year they had asked their readers to nominate them for the Forbes’ 100 Best Websites for Women contest. Despite many of their readers doing so, none of the nominations made for their site ever showed up in the comment section on Forbes site. Why that was has never been discovered but I think that it would not be a huge assumption to say that it is something to do with sex!!! As they said themselves on their own site

“Whatever it was that made us a non-contender, the fact is that sex – even grown-up, porn-free discussions about it – just aren’t welcome everywhere ….. That makes us sad, because all those sex educators, and sex toy reviewers, and kinky bloggers and erotica writers and even pornographers aren’t doing anything wrong. Talking about sex online is legal. So are sex toys, and erotic literature and, in most cases, porn. And while the Internet powers that be claim to be making the world a better place by making all these things less accessible, we’d argue that by hiding all these voices from view, they’re actually making it a little bit smaller, less informed and certainly less sex-positive.”

So in an attempt to counteract that they decided to create their own list and called on their readers and the sex blogging community as a whole to nominate their favourite sites. They then set about reviewing every single one of those nominations (can you imagine just how much fantastically sexy content they have read over the last month or so?) and using a combination of how many votes each blog received, along with their own research, finally came up with their very own Top 100 Sex Blogging Superheroes of 2013.

I applaud them for this. I have long been of the opinion that  the Sex Blogging community is a pool of talented, creative and inspiring individuals but one that is often overlooked. So all recognition of the work that we do as a community and as individuals is really a wonderful thing. Sadly ‘main stream’ media and sites ignore this community, we are unmentionables and yet between us all we publish unique, well written,  researched, knowledgeable content but because our genre is sex in some form or other, we are ‘the great untouchables’ when it comes to recognition. Anything that supports, develops, encourages and recognizes this is a wonderful thing and one of the reasons I started my own version Molly’s 20 of 2012 last year and will be publishing a 2013 version very soon; because if we, as a community of like-minded people, don’t sing our praises and share the love it is fairly clear that no one else is going to do it.

And so to me and this list…. I am honoured to find myself as one of the top 3.

I have pretty much dedicated the last few years to creating a happy, healthy but also informative and challenging space on the internet, albeit with my own personality threaded through it. To know that people, like, enjoy and appreciate my work is a wonderful feeling. I blog for me but in that process I have shared myself with my readers in a raw and honest way. Exposing not just myself through images but maybe even more challengingly through words. I don’t host any paid content on my site, affiliate links or advertising space (Just want to point out that I am most definitely not knocking those that do, just stating a difference) because none of that has ever felt right for me I do it because I love it and the community of sex bloggers that I discovered as a result. It is truly a labour of love.

Thank you to everyone who nominated me. You do me a great privilege and honour when you do so and to Kinkly.com for going to the great length of researching and compiling this list which I have republished in full below because quite frankly it is a fabulous list crammed full of amazing sex blogging Super Heroes, some of whom I nominated myself.

Please do enjoy the list, hopefully like me you will find some new blogs your didn’t know, rediscover ones you might have forgotten about and be happy to see some of your favourite reads get some recognition for their work and whilst you do I am off to dig out my Super Hero cape and panties and continue to put my Super Hero powers to their best possible, kinky, sexy, blogging use.
