Ice Ice Baby

Glass dildo in ice bucket

The current Kink of the Week is temperature play; a fairly broad subject really that depending on your kink might include wax play, fire play, ice play and body heat or cold play and a multitude of various combinations thereof. However this is my take on temperature play and as I have written about wax play already for Kink of the week this post is going to be about the other end of the temperature spectrum; cold.

If you are a regular reader here you will know that I hate the cold. I was not built to withstand it in any way shape or form. When most people are happy to wear a t-shirt you will still find me with my sweater on. I was one of the few people I know who was very happy with the heat in Las Vegas in June. I was clearly born in the wrong country.

I hate the cold so much and it is such a turn off for me that ‘making me cold’ is actually on my hard limits list and we have been to the odd event where I have ended up stopping play because the cold just interfered too much with my ability to be in the right space both mentally and physically for me to engage with the scene. All I can think about is the cold, my battle with it, the discomfort it causes me and the need for it to go away. It is just one of those things that I cannot ignore and carry and on regardless. It makes me feel vulnerable, miserable and grumpy and there is nothing sexy or kinky about that for me at all!

So cold is a big no for me unless it involves ice and a glass dildo. Did you know that ice buckets in hotel rooms are provided just for this use? No one expects you to put a bottle of wine or champagne in it. I know that is what they all show in their promotional materials but they are just trying to fool you into buying stupid expensive alcohol from their room service menu and they clearly have no idea of the true nature of romance because it is not in a champagne bottle but in an ice chilled beautifully sculpted glass dildo that will heat and chill you in almost equal mind numbing measures.

If you have never tried it then my opinion is you are missing out. So many woman have said to me that thought of it makes their bits shrivel up in horror but really it is the most intensely amazing consuming sensation. The first thing is cold, really breath-taking cold but I find that my body responds instantly by flooding the area with lots of hot blood to counteract that and create a delicious burst of heat and as the glass slowly glides its way into me, pushing its chilled self into my heat that battle rages and the result can quite literally have me gasping for air. It is not unlike that pain pleasure boundary in that there is a moment when your body seems to be telling you that something is wrong but if you just hang on a moment or two I find my body does everything it can sort it out for me and it that reaction that is so worth hanging in there for.

I love hotel rooms for so many different reasons but I especially love the ones that have an ice bucket in them and an ice dispenser conveniently  located down the hall. I have no idea what the maid thinks when she comes to do the room though, as I am really bad at remembering that maybe some people use ice buckets for other not so dirty things.

I, too, can’t stand the cold at all, but your post entices me to want to try it! My Master recently mentioned using capsaicin ….hmmmmm… Both sound painful. Not necessarily a bad thing in my world!

“ice and a glass dildo. Did you know that ice buckets in hotel rooms are provided just for this use? No one expects you to put a bottle of wine or champagne in it.”

I’ve always suspected this. My hunch was that ice buckets were provided for the chilling of implements and for post-play icing of burning bottoms or potential bruises.

Also, my thinking is that the neglected Gideon Bibles in the nightstands are for use in cases where you’ve forgotten your favorite heavy paddle.

I’m glad to have my suspicions on these things confirmed. Thanks, Molly. 😉

This really made me laugh. We have long been of the opinion that the only correct use of a copy of 50 Shades of Grey is as a hitty implement but I think you are right about why those bibles are in hotel rooms. Although I always thought they were for propping up the bed when you broke one of the legs due to excessive bed bouncing 😉 I think I might have to write more on this subject and the correct for the various items left in hotel rooms.

“a copy of 50 Shades of Grey is as a hitty implement”

Of course not, silly. 50 Shades isn’t dense enough to use as a hitty implement. The quality is so low that I wouldn’t even consider it for the administration of paper cuts. I’d be afraid some strain of stupidity might leech from the pages into my partner’s blood, infecting her or him with the dreaded “Poorly Written Eroticitis” (symptoms include general ignorance, failure to respect consent, laughably bad dirty talk, inflated ego, and tendency towards melodrama).

“I think I might have to write more on this subject and the correct for the various items left in hotel rooms.”

Fantastic idea! 🙂

If you do write anything more on the true purposes of hotel room amenities, be sure to include those hangers with clips they put in all the closets. Those things are marketed for hanging pants, but everyone knows that if you’re using a hotel room properly, your pants should be flung haphazardly on top of a crumpled pile of your and your lovers clothes. The clippy hangers are well-disguised nipple clamps… not everyone knows that (but they should).

I look forward to reading your hotel room guide! 🙂

*may know someone who’s had a Gideon bible used as a hitty implement on her bottom*
*not by me*

Well, don’t you know that alternating between hot and cold sensation can be quite orgasmic too?

Molly I was nodding along in agreement (I’m one of those oddballs that like both heat AND humidity) until you started talking about icy dildoes. HEATED maybe…but cold?? Nope.

Well, unless he makes me. Hmm, now *that* might be fun…

I enjoy chilling glass toys occasionally as well…and I absolutely love your description of the proper use for an ice bucket at a hotel, you are so right! Also I love the blue tint in the image, it adds to the cold feeling. 🙂

Why restrict the chilling of your favourite glass beauty to hotel rooms? We have an ice bucket in the office! 😉

I have never tried to cool a glass dildo, but I think that is now on my list of things to do.

I am, however, utterly and brutally shocked that hotels dare to mislead us with their promotional material. If they would have been honest about the ice buckets being for glass dildos, I would not have missed out on this for so long!

Wow. Great post Molly, thank you for sharing.
I can’t wait to try this, our only glass dildo has a flogger on the other end so isn’t ideal *adds glass dildo to the MUST BUY list*

I am also adverse to the cold and find it hard to be aroused if I’m chilly but on a very special day in the summer we played with ice which was just delicious. I suspect you may have just inspired another post 😉 xxx

I like temperature play. I can only do it if the rest of me is warm, though. A cold room and a cold toy, or a piece of ice? Pass! A nice toasty room with the contrast of a cold – whatever? Great.

The mention of the ice bucket in the room really made me smile. Just did this very recently! Let me just say that glass dildos aren’t the only thing those ice buckets are handy for … how about a very heavy, well-made stainless steel plug? Oh I do love temp play. 🙂

I’ll have to remember to use the ice bucket for that next time we’re at a hotel 🙂
