Challenging Sexy

Finger covered in menstrual blood

I have spent the last week or so pondering whether to post this image or not. It is not the first image of menstrual blood I will have posted, you can find all the others listed HERE, but this one is probably the most graphic.

Whilst Sir has been away I have been instructed to have one orgasm a day. I have to say it has not been a very fulfilling experience but I think that has been due to my moods which have not been ones that lend themselves to sexy self pleasure. A mixture of anger and sadness all mashed up with a topping of missing him doesn’t make for great masturbation moods. Nevertheless I am not going to pass up an orgasm and so I have pressed on, excuse the pun.

Last week I had my period. I was actually working on some completely different images when I felt the wetness pooling between my thighs and as is so often the case I couldn’t help but dip my fingers in and explore. I like the heat and the sticky slick feeling on my fingers when I have my period and I find that my pussy is much more sensitive at this time of the month . Of course the camera was right there and so I stood and pressed the trigger over and over as I played. In the end the camera was forgotten as my orgasm washed over me and my task for the day was done and then it was off to the shower to the clean up, feeling somewhat less sad and angry, with a dollop of missing him, as described above.

Later that day when I moved the images from my camera to computer I found all the rest that I had taken before this moment where disappointing and were consigned to the ‘learning curve of photography’ file, in other words the trash can, apart from this one. Which left me pondering whether I should share it or not. I think it is rather beautiful in a gory kind of way and it certainly captures a moment but is it a moment for sharing?

I asked Twitter and I got back a number of responses but it was this one from @Wholesexlife that stood out for me

“I think it’s important to share non-standard sexual images. So many different things can be sexy. Menstrual blood gives us a way to explore some of our darker taboos. It’s hot because it’s a little scary.”

And I thought you know what? She is dead right and not only that but it challenges the concept that menstrual blood is in some way dirty or shameful. I am a woman and I believe that in many respects there is nothing more womanly than this. It is not dirty, or shameful, it’s natural and normal. It might not be to everyone’s taste but it is real and honest and it happens. I have never been one to shy away from tricky subjects on my blog and I believe that some of what I do here is challenging to both me and you, the reader, but that doesn’t mean we should shy away from that challenge. It is part of who I am and what my body does and I am happy with that. Just because I have my period does not mean I suddenly become any less sexy or sexual in fact for me it is quite the opposite. It is all part of being a woman, it is all part of being me.

I was shaving a couple weeks ago and as I sat on the side of the tub, I was having my period & I throughly enjoyed watching it come out of me & down the smooth bathtub. I had a thought about if it was weird or unusal and it isn’t! It isn’t gory or gross, it is part you and me. I love the picture and your words!

Hope you are feeling better. Signs comes home in a couple days, right?

You have a beautiful pussy and I think showing your menstrual blood is quite brave. I agree with your sentiments on the subject as well; sure, it can be gross but it’s also kind of fascinating to play with and explore.

I particularly like the positioning of your fingers and the fact that only one of them is covered in blood. It really stands out since it is in the middle of the image.

And don’t worry; I get all those emotions when I miss my Daddy as well. Just hang in there!

HAHA! I read it. I was challenged. I thought about your words and I thought yeah! But then I thought but… it gives me grim cramps, often back ache, I feel bloated and yeach, I get spots that contradict my wrinkles, I’ve spent a fucking fortune in my lifetime on tampons and pads, plus sodding VAT, regularity is unreliable so I’ve ruined a decent pair of jeans or two, the mood dip is a bitch and really I could do without it. So if you don’t mind, I’ll pass on celebrating this particular aspect of my womanhood. It’s a pain in the fanny! 🙂

I’m horny a LOT, but get unbelievably so the day before my period (yes, I still get them even though I no longer bleed!). It is just part of the cycle to me.
Seeing that image, I remember as a teen waking up many many times to dried blood all over my fingers. Had I been the shutterbug I am now, I would have captured them.

Beautiful, beautiful image.

I always find my period is when I am most horny. Must find a guy who doesn’t mind getting a little dirty.

Holy hell that is hot! Really, really hot! I wish my menstrual blood looked like that. Mine is always much darker and far less alluring.

I don’t know how you masturbate with those nails though. Ouchy!

Thank you and I actually like the feeling of my nails grazing against my clit. If I break my ‘clit finger’ nail then I find I miss it’s little scratch and dig.

I will admit I flew past the picture. I loathe my period. It has been a bane to me for many years , never fully getting into a pattern until the birth of my last child. When I was young and it was so unpredictable, a mother who based my sexual proclivity on it’s consistent absence put me through hell with OB/GYN wanting a confirmation of virginity. Imagine her surprise when the doctor blew a gasket on her outdated thoughts concerning it. Informing her that I could break my hymen riding a bike, a hard fall or even when I slid at 10 and busted my vulva on monkey bars. He did however prove I had a tilted uterus. Which led to many skipped periods, overwhelming back pains before and during my period when it arrived, and days of bloating and sleep need. We also learned I was far from anemic because when I did menustrate the smell of iron would make me ill, leading me to constantly change clothes, pads, the whole 9 yards. In my older age I have found that the week before is the time I am most likely to reach orgasm, every nerve on end, my drive higher. Beautiful words but a hard love hate relationship for me personally to get over.

I love this picture; not only is it very aesthetically pleasing to me ( blood can be quite sexy and fascinating), it’s also brave and especially personal since it’s something most people shy away from. Our periods are natural and beautiful and whether or not they are a turn on, they are still part of our bodies and sexuality, and I think it’s important to celebrate that. Lovely post!!

You never stop to amaze me, luv. Beautiful words and a stunning photo, which just shows the world how natural it is for a woman to menstruate. Why should it be hidden? If I still menstruated, I would have joined you in this!

Absolutely lovely post!

I found your photograph profoundly arousing. Which surprised me – I wasn’t expecting to have that reaction! Upon pondering, I think it’s because the blood is so red, so fresh. Mine menstrual blood is usually a considerably darker colour, even in the Diva Cup. The clarity (claret?) of yours really hit something visceral for me.

Is it completely fucked up that I want to lick your finger and your cunt clean?

I actually find it extremely erotic, and thankfully, so does my lover- both of us love getting messy, and sharing that intimacy together, is fantastically exciting.

Yesterday, she sent me a text, “I’m having insatiable desires to get your cock all bloody…”

So, share what you enjoy, there’s nothing shameful in it.

(And, thanks for the post, sometimes it *is* nice to know we’re not the only ones)

This is a striking image and I applaud you for using it. I think more women should be more open at posting more sexually challenging images. The interesting thing is, every woman has a different period. The variety of imagery would be vast. I currently don’t have a period due to my birth control pills, but when I do have it, mine isn’t as bright red as yours and certainly doesn’t flow so freely as some women here have described.

This image is truly breathtaking. The light is perfect. The blood is so beautifully contained on the one finger and between the lips… so incredible.

Aside from applauding you for continuing to speak out about the nature and beauty of menstruation, I just cannot say enough about how much I love this: using blood in sexual photographs can be so difficult because it often belies a certain cheesiness. But with menstrual blood it is natural and it is supposed to be there! I also think the fact that your cunt is bare helps a lot… The mixture of smooth sexiness and this deeply affecting bodily function…

I’ll stop now. But this is truly breathtaking.

This is a normal, natural part of being a woman. I don’t understand why anyone might consider it distasteful just because it falls outside of the supposed “norm” with regard to sex. We don’t see any problem having sex during my period, which is wonderful because that is when I tend to be my horniest.

I just love you Molly! Thank you for posting this picture. I agree with it being a little taboo making it a bit scary. I love that you posted it anyways!

Thank you… I did think long and hard about it but in the end through caution to the wind and put it out there. All the amazing comments I have received about it has made me realise it was a good move.

Hello Molly,
I think the image itself is beautiful, not because of the blood but more because of the intimacy of it. I am not turned off or on nor am I squeamish by the sight of your menstrual blood. It is a natural part of most women and I do not believe it should be shunned or thought of as dirty.

Unlike you though I do not share the same feelings. Every month when my period arrives and yes it comes regularly, like a ticking time bomb I am only reminded of the fact that I can not have children; that my egg and blood tease me, torment me with the constant reminder that my body will never give birth to the children I so desperately ached for and still on rare occasions still do. Instead I am bombarded with debilitating cramps, evil mood swings which I have thankfully learned to control with great discipline and an over sensitive body that craves to be touched but hurts when manhandled. I am in a constant state of sexual frenzy but the slightest touch feels like a deep tissue bruise. For 4 days my body betrays me and even though I embrace my period and remind myself I am lucky for the life I lead and the health of my body, I would quite frankly give my middle toe on my right foot to not have my period ever again. Ahh if wishes only came true. 🙂

But back to your image. Kudos for you in sharing it. Embrace what is feminine.

Thank you for leaving a comment. It made my heart crinkle a little the way you talked about your longing for a child. I know that I am lucky that my body granted me that privilege and even thought they drive me totally and utterly bonkers at times I am blessed to have them both. My period is a constant reminder that I was able to have them and so I can image how it works in total reverse for you.

I love this so much, Molly! Thank you for taking a subject that is for some reason considered taboo (even though half of the population experiences it *twelve times a year*), putting it out in the open, and exposing its beauty. I read a study recently that said that women’s orgasms were most intense the day before their periods – and yea for orgasms! I love and embrace my period (most of the time – maybe not when I burst into spontaneous tears on the bus) and really enjoy seeing my own blood; it makes me feel connected to my body. This is a visceral image, but it’s also quite sensual.

Oh there are plenty of times when my period drives me nuts and I hate that it tends to make me tired and irritable but overall I have come to love and embrace it for what it is

But is it, or any of the graphic pictures I have posted porn or art? The answer to that is, yes. Because that depends on who is looking at them

Combine that with them also being things that Michael and I struggle with and the result is that I have censored myself. I think we all do it to some extent
