Off the top of my head

Yay for it being Friday and double yay for me finally having time to join in with Boobday again. The last few weeks have been so hectic that every Friday I have been determined to post something I have ended up failing to do so. It feels good to change that pattern today.

I took this picture a while ago in the woods near my house for my Christmas Advent Calendar but ended up posting a different one instead. (G is for Gloves) The downside of being a self-portrait photographer is that you end with shots like this where you have inadvertently sliced off the top of your head. Sometimes it doesn’t matter but sometimes it just does seem to make the shot somehow ‘less’. This is a good example of that because my face and eyes are so much part of the image the top of my head being sliced off makes it all feel a little squashed in. However I could never quite bring myself to delete this image because despite its technical faults there is something about it that I love. It captures a moment, I look joyful and happy and I love the way the light is illuminating my chest and cleavage and the shape of my shoulders and neck. I think it captures a kind of softness and strength all in one image.
