Thanksgiving

25th November 2010

I have 2 other posts already written and waiting to be posted but I have decided to put them on hold to just say a little something about today, because today is Thanksgiving. I know I am a Brit, but I seem to have also become an honorary Murrican and so today is has become a special day in my house. I guess it has been made extra special by the fact that He is here with me and He is cooking me and my children our first ever Thanksgiving dinner.

The house smells amazing, the Pumpkin Pie is cooked and the turkey is roasting away. The children have been helping and we are playing on the internet at the same time….oh and of course some music to help it all go with a little swing (noooo, not swinging, for goodness sake, this post contains children)

He kissed me a moment ago and they both looked on as is they had never seen anything so amazing before, well they probably have not, to be honest, I don’t think they have ever witnessed anyone kiss their Mother. Well they best get used to it, we kiss a lot.

So today seems like one of those days when you need to take a few moments and have a think about things and of course have a think about the things that you are thankful for. Well right now I seem to have a list as long as your arm but I am going to try and keep it short.

I am thankful for being healthy, for my kids and their health, for the fact we have a home and enough money to get by. I am thankful for my amazing friends, and for the internet which has delivered me some of the best friends a girl could have. I am thankful that I was brave enough to make a massive change in my life 2 years ago that has ultimately lead me to this moment in my life.

I am thankful for international travel, for every moment that we have been able to be together. I am thankful for the fact we found each other and that he loved me as I love Him and most of all I am thankful for this very special day and if I have one wish for the future it would be that this is the last Thanksgiving I ever have in the UK and that I never ever have to celebrate this day without Him by my side.

Of all the holidays we celebrate in America, Thanksgiving is my favorite. Oc ourse I love Christmas and all that it means but it has become so commercialized it has lost what it once was. Thanksgiving remains pure and unsullied and is all about thankfulness, freinds and family. I am very happy that you could experience that with the ones you love.

Everything looks amazing and delicious, but possibly the most wonderful thing was the kiss.
Funny that out of all you’ve done during the week, that was the kiss that made it into your blog. How precious that is.
I’m glad you had a wonderful day, and thank you for sharing it with us.

I’m thankful that you have so much to be thankful for! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It’s all about food, family and friends, without the frenzy of gifts.
